Rich itinerary for the whole year

On the subject of "to what extent is MTA embedded in the network of the international community of science academies", he called the World Science Forum to be held in Budapest this Fall an excellent opportunity.

Of the efforts to popularise science he has referred to the traditional series of events to celebrate Science in Hungary, the motto of which this year runs as this: „The evolution of science: real and virtual worlds".  The MTA series of events is intended to draw attention to the potentials and hazards created by new technologies. A new element in the program besides public lectures, are promotional lectures for the general public to be given by the individual scientific sections of MTA. He also announced that to commemorate the 150th anniversary of opening the palace of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences MTA is making preparations to offer a rich choice of festive events.

Disclosing methodology vs. falsification

László Lovász also spoke of work to be done against false science. He is convinced that he main device in the process should be the disclosure of the methods and protocols of science. „We should not get involved in the rebuttal of some specific false claims because then they would be regarded as thinking on par with scientific reasoning, hence making them legitimate; I believe that it would be more appropriate and fruitful to present ‘real' scientific achievements contradicting false claims, together with the roads that take you there, i.e. if you present the methods of research in a simple and clear manner".
