Rio 2013 World Science Forum closing declaration commits to advance use of science for global sustainable development

The closing session of the 6th World Science Forum today published its closing declaration with delegates from over 100 countries pledging to advance the use of Science for global sustainable development. The declaration will now be taken forward by UNESCO as a key starting point for preliminary planning of the Post-2015 Millennium Sustainable Development Goals. Based on three days of intense and informed debate, the declaration contains 5 main recommendations for action:

1. Harmonization of global and national efforts 
2. Education to reduce inequalities and promote global and sustainable science and innovation

Öt pontban fogalmazta meg a nagyvilág számára ajánlásait a Rio de Janeiro-ban hatodik alkalommal megrendezett World Science Forumon részt vett nemzetközi tudósközösség.

A fenntartható fejlődés érdekében kifejtett globális és nemzeti erőfeszítések összehangolása, az oktatás területén az egyenlőtlenségek csökkentése, a tudományos kutatásokban az etikai szempontok érvényesítése, a tudomány finanszírozására fenntartható mechanizmusok kialakítása, továbbá a kormányzati és a civil szféra képviselőivel, illetve a gazdaság és a média szereplőivel a fenntarthatóság kérdéseiről folytatott párbeszéd kibővítése – ezt javasolta száz ország félezer résztvevője.

A 2013-as Tudomány Világfóruma (WSF) arra keresi a választ, hogy mi a szerepe, kötelessége és felelőssége a tudománynak a globális fenntartható fejlődés kezelésében. Erről Pálinkás József, a Magyar Tudományos Akadémia (MTA) elnöke beszélt Rio de Janeiróban, ahol vasárnap kezdődött meg a rendezvény. A Magyar Tudományos Akadémia idén hatodik alkalommal rendezi meg a nagyszabású rendezvényt, ahol Nobel-díjas kutatók, tudományminiszterek és a legbefolyásosabb tudományos döntéshozók vesznek részt. A fórum célja, hogy a fenntarthatóság környezeti, gazdasági és társadalmi szempontjaiból vizsgálja az egyenlőtlenségek szerepét.

Hungary aims to tighten its scientific ties with the emerging technological and scientific super powers such as Brazil, HAS President József Pálinkás said in a meeting where he gave a presentation about the role WSF plays in science diplomacy. O Secretário-executivo do Ministério da Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação (MCTI), Luis Antonio Elias, anuncia o o Fórum Mundial de Ciência 2013 (World Science Forum), que será realizado no Rio de Janeiro. O anúncio foi feito durante o evento científico "Avanços e Perspectivas da Ciência no Brasil, América Latina e Caribe, na Academia Brasileira de Ciências (ABC).

A realização do Fórum Mundial de Ciência no Brasil representa um marco na vida científica brasileira e deve estimular a transição do País para um novo modelo de desenvolvimento. Esse foi o tom do discurso de autoridades, pesquisadores e representantes de entidades científicas que participaram ontem (29) da abertura do primeiro dos sete encontros preparatórios para a sexta edição do Fórum Mundial de Ciência, que será realizado em novembro de 2013, no Rio de Janeiro. The need for establishing a scholarly society was first mentioned by Act VIII of 1808.
